Pinky and Sonali come from a very poor background, living in a slum in North India, where opportunities for girls are often limited and life is full of challenges. Yet, in the midst of these difficulties, their dreams have always had wings—to rise higher and build a better future.
Five years ago, they became part of the Cornerstone Informal School, where they received free tuition, guidance, and a supportive learning environment. Cornerstone was not just a place of study for them—it became a space where they gained confidence, developed discipline, and discovered the importance of education. The consistent support and encouragement they received helped them believe in themselves and their potential.
Today, they are high school students, continuing their education with determination and focus. Despite the social and financial barriers they face as young girls, they have chosen to dream big—Pinky aspires to become a doctor, and Sonali hopes to become a teacher, so they can contribute to society and uplift others.
Cornerstone Informal School is committed to impacting the lives of thousands of poor and underprivileged children who do not have access to formal education. It is especially working to change mindsets in communities where girls are often not encouraged to study.
By reaching out to families, building trust, and providing free and accessible education, Cornerstone is helping bring girls into classrooms and opening doors to new opportunities for them.
Their journey is a powerful reminder that when given the right support and opportunity, children can overcome barriers and move toward a brighter future.
